These beautiful wraps showcase the fine embroidery traditions of Northern India, and come in a variety of colors and patterns to compliment every wardrobe. Our fair trade shawls are available in wool or viscose, offering an allergy friendly alternative for those with sensitive skin. Viscose is made from plant fibers and is breathable while also preserving heat as effectively as wool. Our embroidered wool shawls are made in India by artisans who have mastered intricate designs, combining traditional Indian patterns with a modern twist.Â
Embroidery has a rich history that dates back centuries. The traditional Indian floral and nature inspired patterns are said to have made their way to Europe in the 17th century through the East India Trade, influencing the English style of embroidery.Â
While sewing and textile production has often been work done by women, today there are women and men who are preserving and promoting this skilled craft around the world.Â
