Sustainable Cupro Apparel
Cupro is a luxurious, eco-friendly fabric that is made from recovered cotton waste. Cupro material is made by re-purposing the filaments of the cotton seed, which are spun in close-looped factories. More than 98% of the solvents that are used to process the filaments are recycled into the next round of production. Utilizing these cotton seed filaments ensures that the energy and labor involved in growing cotton is maximized by using as much of the plant as possible.
Cupro is a lightweight material that has the look, feel and fall of silk while being breathable and easy to wash like cotton. It also has the feature of regulating body temperature like cotton does, which makes it a perfect material for warmer weather and for sun protection.
Once our fabric is made, we use digital printing technology to deliver beautiful, unique designs of fair trade kaftans, scarves, and tops in a range of colors and prints. Digital printing also produces less waste than other methods of printing, as the dyes remain in the printing equipment for repeated rounds of printing, rather than getting disposed of after each round of printing.
Cupro material is hypoallergenic and can be washed and ironed at low temperatures. Once the garment reaches the end of its life cycle, cupro can be recycled into new fabric and it is also biodegradable.
Sevya's fair trade apparel collection incorporates cupro material in a range of finishes, like georgette, crepe, silk and satin, and each one has it's own distinct beauty. Our garments and scarves are stitched in women-owned and operated fair trade stitching units, and this vital work helps to empower women in their local communities.
Our new line of cupro scarves, tops and kaftans for Spring/Summer 2020 feature vibrant prints and our cupro free-size tops showcase the fine hand-embroidery done by women artisans in Northern India.
Sevya also offers custom scarves, tops and kaftans, with digital printing of any design or image on fine cupro fabric. We make custom printed scarves for a number of museum stores and private label brands in the US and Europe and offer low MOQ's, reasonable prices and fair trade certified production.
